TOMIC #36 - Edwin + Tina's Sketch

Hi there Maggie fans! 

There is a new challenge up at TOMIC today! It is a special challenge as it is Edwin's birthday! 

The challenge is to use EDWIN and follow the fabby sketch by Tina.

I took the opportunity to ink up little Pirate Edwin from the Bon Voyage 2010 collection and have masked him on the Pier background from Lazy Summer Days 2009 collection. I love this cute little Edwin. 

Tina's sketch is a really great one to add your own personal touches to. I've used my Doo Hickey banner die (love it) and some little metal photo holders, along with some shells and a charm. The papers are Basic Grey Oliver. 

We would love to see what you come up with this week at TOMIC. There is a fantastic secret prize up for grabs from Magnolia for a lucky winner as well.

Woo hoo!! It is time for our next challenge at TOMIC!

This week we have a really yummy challenge for you... in fact, I am hungry just thinking about it. This week we are looking for a theme with a colour combo....

Chocolate (brown & cream)

"The colours brown and cream are mandatory and have to be dominant. 

The chocolate theme can be illustrated by recipe, word, decorations, theme... 

You must use a Magnolia stamp which is cooking related from the numerous collections of Magnolia stamps. "

For my card, I  have used a sheet of Prima paper that I have been saving for at least a year. It was time to use it I think !  I folded the paper into a Shaddow Box card. I recently discovered these but the format was too small for me so I've altered it so it is finished approx 5 inches square.

The images are Chef Tilda and "A Little Yummy" sentiment from the A Little Yummy collection, Strawberry from Lazy Summer Day collection and the  Love Muffin (I'll have to check the collection that one for you, sorry!!). The images are coloured with DIs on Archers Watercolour paper.

Relax and Enjoy

Hi there everyone! Its Monday again! I am really excited to share my project today. A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to win a challenge at The Shabby Tea Room and was asked to be a Gust Designer for this week :) I was over the moon. Of course I said a big YES!

The challenge this week is... "Relax and Enjoy" with a colour combo - Pink, Yellow and Green. To help get your creative juices flowing there is a great photo for inspiration...

So! This is what I have created:

Miss Tilda looks fairly relaxed doesn't she? The papers are a bit of a mix... There is a little bit of MME (the green), some Basic Grey (pink) and the sweet white and yellow is Sassafrass Lass. It was a given that I would use a Magnolia stamp for my card, lol. This one in particular I have to check to see what her name is. She was a little giftie from my friend Kellie.  The sentiment is also Magnolia. One of my favourites.

Explore Tilda

Hi! How is your Thursday going so far? It is pretty chilli here in Canberra - brrrr - winter is definately here.

For my card today I have used the adorable new Explore Tilda from the Sweet Rainbow collection.

The frame Tilda is sitting in has been painted and covered in glitter. All of the paper edges are distressed wtih ink and also given a bit of a paint wash. The gorgeous doily is cut using a Dienamic and I've used a rub on for the sentiment.  The little ants are from the Lazy Summer Days 2009 collection.

Dreaming of Paris

I was just having a little bit of a play with a few different ideas with this card :)

I've been itching to ink up my Eifell Tower stamp for a while, its one of those stamps that have only seen ink once or twice before (very BAD!) and I recently bought little Heartbreaker Edwin and I thought they would work well together.  The papers are Sassafrass Lass "Indie Girl" and have been sitting on my desk waiting for attention since before Christmas (very, very BAD!).  The hot air balloons are one of my favourite accessory stamps that I ink up and fill in gaps when I find the opportunity.

The distressed look of my card is something I don't do very often but these gorgeous papers and lace were just crying out for it. The paper flower behind the rose is a Magnolia Doo Hickey die "Peony Petals". The Eifell Tower is actually stamped in "Antique Linen" distress ink, then stamped over in versamark and embossed with clear powder to make it glossy. The crochet doily was a pressie from a friend and the lace is Kaisercraft.

Everything is coloured in Copics and machine stitched for fun :)

Cuppa Tea anyone?

How are everyone's Christmas preparations going? We finally did our big grocery shop this morning. We thought we'd head out at 8am and beat the crowds... fingers crossed!  And it worked. We were so relieved! We were home again by 9am and able to relax.

I've had this idea to make a tea cup with flowers for a little while now and finally last night I sat down and made it happen. It was inspired by a couple of ideas, firstly, those flower pot cards that were around for a little while and also I was at a garden centre and saw a ceramic pot in the shape of a tea cup with pansies planted in it, so cute!

The card base is simply an easel card and I used a tea cup template I found at Peets Scrapalbum. The flowers are cut with Doo Hickey dies and so is the edge border. I used the "Berry Lace" Doo Hickey but only showed the little dots on the edge.

The flowers and Tilda are attached to a die cut oval which is removable for a message to be written on the back.

 I also used the Doo Hickey Swirl and Leaves on white cardstock The flowers are all edged with "Walnut Stain" distress ink. 

The base of the easel has two pockets built into it. The back one houses a little gift of a tea satchel and the top one has two little tags cut with the Doo Hickey tag die.

Midsummer Tilda is from the Once Upon A Fairy Tale 2010 collection and is coloured with Copic sketch markers.

A Summery card :)

Happy Sunday to you all! The next challenge is up over at Magnolia Down Under... and this week our challenge may be a little bit out of season for all of you  in the Northern Hemisphere....but not for us Down Under! The challenge this week is.... Summer!! LOL - put those snowflakes away for a break and get out your summer themed stamps!

I thought I'd make a card that opened out.. I'm not sure if there is a special name for it, but it is a bit like a sideways gatefold. I used the very summery ice cream image on the front of the card and on the inside I have Happy Tilda from the Right Through My Heart collection. I've had this MME "Bloom and Grow" paper in my stash for some months now and I pull it out all the time, admire how gorgeous it is and then carefully put it back in the rack, lol. So I thought it was time to actually cut into it... OMG! Such a gorgeous colour combo.  And I had to use a pretty lace doily as well, I thought it suited the ice cream feel. I used my EK Success Binder edge punch on the main image matt, both outside and inside, and also the MS Double Scallop edge punch on the bottom edge of the top flappy bit.

I was rummaging through my stamps and found this little Tilda and her bathing ring just sitting there waiting to be inked up.... and bing! Light bulb moment - my new Whiff of Joy Pennant die from was going to be perfect for this card.

The card is a bit brighter than my usual card, but I quite liked the result. I must remember to use yellows a little bit more.
